2-5-19 Runway 14/32 face lift
On the morning of February 18th, JAXEX will close Runway 14/32 from the end of 14 to the LAHSO, this is to allow milling and resurfacing of the runway. This closure will include taxiways A3, A5 and Echo. Runway 5/23 will be the only available runway during this time. This work is scheduled for 45 calendar days.
And then beginning approximately April 8 work will begin within the intersection of Runway 32 and 23. During this time, the airport will close from 11PM to 5AM. This closure will leave only 3500ft available for takeoffs. JAXEX will displace the threshold of runway 23 850ft leaving 3150ft available for landing. Taxiways Charlie and Foxtrot will be closed. PAPIs for Runway 23 will be taken out of service. Temporary displaced threshold markings and lights will be installed for runway 23. This work is scheduled for 45 calendar days.
The approximate completion date for this work is May 23th. There will be additional runway and airport closings to paint permanent runway markings after this date. This schedule is for your planning purposes, with the understanding that this schedule may change over time.
I will post and email updates as they are provided.

7-1-18- Upcoming event - Fly out
There is a Fly in BBQ at Adel GA. I went to one of these last year and the folks were friendly. They put out a spread and ask for donations to cover the cost of lunch. If we have enough people I will call them and give a headcount. Don't know about the weather yet other than it will be hot. It is in a hangar so at least you can have shade to eat.
Info below is what I got from https://www.funplacestofly.com/aviation-event-details.asp?EventID=23208. It is a 111 nm mile flight. There is some restricted airspace (R-3008) around Moody AFB so flight following is a good idea.

April 21 Wings Over Suwannee. It starts Friday and goes through Sunday. http://www.wingsoversuwannee.com/ There is camping for those who like but the plan is for a morning departure to see the event with a same day return. Suwannee is ~78 nm almost due West so less than an hour flight for most of us. http://www.airnav.com/airport/24J
Note: While this sounds like a lot of fun, remember safety first. Each pilot is responsible for their flight including planning, weather and navigation.

April 6-8 The Staggerwing & Radial Reunion will once again gather at Craig. This will be the second year. The event requires registration and a small fee. I attended last year and it was lots of fun and many cool planes came from near and far. If you have a round engine, you need to be there. If you don’t have one, head out anyway to hear that great rumble. http://www.radialreunion.com/

Craig airport pilots association grows to 34 people. Celebrates with Coffee and Doughnuts!!! CAPA held its first event at Craig. Coffee and doughnuts in the hangar. Lots of good ideas for the group like planned fly outs to nearby events and a Spring time BBQ. Great to meet a bunch of other aviation enthusiasts.
