Anyone know somebody who wants to be an actor?
We just got the following message from Brad Martin at JAXEX about how they are looking for volunteers to be in training movies.
"On Monday, July 22, JAXEX will be updating our security and airfield driving training videos. Beginning around 8am we will be filming at various points around the airport. We are looking for a few volunteers to star in these videos, no acting experience required. If interested, contact Tim Croxton at 904-741-5064 or email timothy.croxton@flyjaxex.com."

Craig Airport Pilots Association (CAPA)
The next meeting of the Craig Airport Pilots Association will take place on Saturday, July 13 at 10 a.m., at our office. Coffee and donuts will be served. All are welcome to attend. We’ll be soliciting volunteers to help with all aspects of the fall Short Field Landing Contest, tentatively scheduled for Saturday, October 19. CAPA gatherings are a great opportunity to meet and interact with other pilots of all experience levels in a relaxed, social setting. We are also planning other volunteer activities including an EAA Young Eagles rally. Membership in CAPA is free! For more information, visit http://www.craigpilots.org or visit our Facebook page.
Radio Controlled Airplane Competition
Holladay Aviation renter pilot Doug Bracey has invited us to join him for the International Miniature Aerobatic Club (IMAC) competition at the Gateway RC Club (http://gatewayrc.com) in Jacksonville on Saturday, July 20. The club is located at 3461 Lannie Road. Doug says there will be lots of aerobatic maneuvers and lots of nice RC planes on display. There is a practice day on Friday, July 19 and the main event is on Saturday, July 20. Pilots usually begin flying around 8:30 a.m. and the event winds down around 5 p.m. Admission is free and you are welcome to bring coolers and chairs to relax under their large pavilion. Doug has been flying RC airplanes for more than 40 years and says it’s what motivated him to earn his private pilot certificate in 1975.

The Jacksonville Airport Authority had a tenants meeting today to go over some of the recent changes at Craig. The runway resurfacing for 32-14 is now complete as you may have noticed. In addition to the runway being resurfaced, some of the taxiways have been widened and the blast pads extended. New LED lighting was installed as well as part of the airport upgrades.
Runway resurfacing needs to occur about every 15-20 years. Runway 5-23 is not scheduled to be resurfaced for another six years. They also discussed improving the signage around the aircraft wash, and they wanted to let everyone know it is working.
The badging office hours
The badging office hours will be changing to Tuesday and Thursday from 11 AM to 1 PM. Please feel free to contact Brad Martin at the airport authority about scheduling around badges. They are also working on a system for alerting us when our badge is about to expire.
You may have noticed the run up area and taxiway Charlie at end of 23 was/is closed. A reminder to check those Notams while they finish the runway work. I hear that it may all be done the first week of June but I will believe it when tower clears me for take off on 32.
The June 15 BBQ is around the corner. If you have not RSVP’d, please take a moment to do so. Info on the BBQ.
Please RSVP to Meredith Holladay via email meredith@holladayaviation.com, or call her at (904) 625-4318.
We now have a Facebook page as well for those who like FB. Go ahead and start posting your flying adventures. Craig Pilots Facebook Group

Meredith Holladay has cordially invited CAPA and several related groups to an open house for food, fun, camaraderie and to chat about future plans at KCRG.
Here at CRG, we have several intermingled groups of pilots, including EAA Chapter 193, the Ninety Nines and the Craig Airport Pilots Association. There are also several flight schools and corporate operators. Private pilot or ATP, aircraft owner or renter, we all have a lot to share with one another.
Meredith would like to invite each of you to an informal get-together on Saturday, June 15 at noon, rain or shine. Holladay Aviation will host the meeting at their hangar at the Craig Air Center. They will provide burgers and hot dogs on the grill, as well as a cooler full of soft drinks. If you plan to attend, please bring a small container of your favorite side dish or dessert to share with the group. Kids and significant others are welcome!
During the event we will have an informal meeting to discuss plans for the next annual Spot Landing Contest at CRG. We will also revisit the Ninety Nines’ plan to repaint the compass rose at CRG.
Looking forward to seeing you all on June 15! If you missed the last coffee, now is your chance to meet your fellow Craig Pilots and you don’t even have to wake up early.
